RELIABLE ENERGY SUPPLY
DEDICATED, REDUNDANT AND DISCONNECTED
Extremely reliable energy will be continuously supplied to the Campus by multiple dedicated, state-of-the-art power generation facilities through a dedicated, fully redundant micro grid. The ultra-high reliability of these systems will allow the Campus will operate completely disconnected from the local power grid.
The benefits include:
- Ultra-high supply reliability
- Continued operation in the event of a local grid blackout
- Insulation from external disruptions
- Extremely competitive rates
- Controllable and predictable long-term costs
- Low-carbon energy supply
MODULAR, REDUNDANT DESIGN
Each generation facility is designed to be self-contained in an indoor modular island, isolated from the other facilities, ensuring independent operational risk profiles and insulating them from environmental and other external hazards.
The Campus will be designed, built and operated with at multiple operational generation facilities always in reserve. This multiple facility modular design — with significant, redundant generation capacity and no single points of failure — will ensure an ultra-high level of energy supply reliability for the Campus.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
All of the generation facilities will be operated and maintained with the highest standards of care in order to ensure ultra-reliable energy is available to the data centers at all times.
POWER DISTRIBUTION WITHIN THE CAMPUS
The distribution of electric power throughout the Campus will be through robust underground lines configured as a self-healing smart grid, protecting the system from environmental disruptions and ensuring extremely reliable delivery of energy to each data center.
FUEL SUPPLY
The Campus is located in the heart of the Pennsylvania gas producing region. This region produces nearly sixteen billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, or nearly 20% of the total U.S. production, providing the Campus with an inexpensive, clean-burning, very reliable source of firm energy.
FUEL DELIVERY
The Campus will have firm delivery of natural gas through one or more dedicated pipelines with access to multiple high-volume interstate pipelines, all of which have significant capacity to supply the needs of the Campus. The largest of these interstate systems has never failed to deliver on their firm obligations to deliver natural gas to any customer in the area of the Campus.
Companies such as Owens Illinois and Sylvania have substantial manufacturing in the area.
Major research universities in the region include:
Several smaller universities are located in the region, including Clarion University and Indiana University.
In addition, there are several technical schools in the area to support the local industry, including:
